Enjoying the Hangang River

The Hangang River is the largest of all rivers in the world that flow through an urban center. Among 11 parks along the Hangang River, I·SEOUL·U sculpture, a symbol of Seoul, is installed in Yeouido Hangang Park. This is an attractive tourist site where visitors can enjoy bike riding, water sports, camping and a romantic cruise ship tour. Enjoy a fun-filled day by the Hangang River where a flower festival is held in spring and a fireworks festival is held in fall.

Yeouido World Night Market - Seouul Bamdokkaebi Night Market

Seoul Bamdokkaebi Night Market, one of the most popular festivals, is open all across Seoul. Yeouido World Night Market is especially popular as it offers food trucks serving various delicious international cuisines, handmade craft shops, busking performances and the beautiful night view of the Hangang River.

Bicycle riding

Enjoy cycling along a bicycle road by the Hangang River, feeling the refreshing breeze on your face under the blue sky. At Yeouido Hangang Park, which is in a close distance from a subway station, there are a number of bicycle rental shops where visitors can easily rent bicycles to enjoy bicycle riding by the river.

Enjoying fried chicken&beer(“chimaek”)

One of the most popular activities among tourists from around the world is enjoying fried chicken and beer(“chimaek”) in Hangang Park. Just call a nearby fried chicken restaurant to have freshly fried chicken and beer delivered to the park. In addition to the crispy fried chicken, try the flavors you can only experience in Korea, such as soy sauce chicken or spring onion chicken.

Seoul Marina Club & Yacht

How about a romantic yacht tour under the setting sun on the Hangang River that flows gently across Seoul? After sailing on a cruise yacht, enjoy relaxing tea time or a meal on the first floor of Seoul Marina Club House.

Water sports

July and August are a peak season for experiencing water sports on the Hangang River, which runs right across the heart of Seoul. Try the Duck Boat, a signature attraction of the Hangang River, or the speedy motorboat ride. Have a go at water skiing or wake-boarding after taking a lesson on the site.

Camping

Hangang Summer Festival is held from July to August. How about enjoying water sports and camping at Yeouido Hangang Park? Rent a camping kit comprising a one-touch pop-up tent and a picnic table and enjoy a barbecue party by the Hangang River under the setting sun.

Hangang Park Yeouido Swimming Pool (Outdoor)

In July and August when the sweltering heat starts in high summer, six Hangang parks including Yeouido Park open outdoor swimming pools. Beat the heat of summer by enjoying swimming in the heart of the city, overlooking the Hangang River. In addition to swimming pools designed for varying age groups, a range of auxiliary facilities including showers, canteens and air slides are available for visitors’ convenience.

Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park

A walking trail is established along the Saetgang Forest, a habitat of rare animals and plants, from the National Assembly building to 63 Square. Take a walk by the fields of wild flowers and reeds, which put on different colors and create varying landscapes each season. The view from the Culture Bridge over Saetgang is particularly beautiful.

Seonyudo Park

Seonyudo Island, one of the islands in the Hangang River, is an ecological park established by recycling a water purification facility that used to be located on the island. Take pictures against the concrete structures of the old purification plant, and enjoy a leisurely walk among a variety of aquatic plants in the water-themed garden.

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival

In early April, thousands of king cherry trees create a fantastic tunnel of cherry blossoms in the area around Yeouiseo-ro (Yunjung-ro) of Yeouido. A street parade and a range of performances are held under the cherry blossom trees. At night, a different atmosphere is created as the cherry blossom trees are lit by colorful lighting.

Seoul International Fireworks Festival

Yeouido Hangang Park is famous for the International Fireworks Festival, which is held in early October each year. A spectacular fireworks show that embroider the night sky and a laser show accompanied by music start after 7 in the evening. A deejaying performance adds to the excitement of this festival.
