Located in a close distance from Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport, Yeongdeungpo-gu is the transportation center of Seoul where a network of many modes of public transportation, such as subway (connected to Lines 1, 2, 5, 7 and 9) and bus services, are well established. Yeongdeungpo Station, one of the main stations of Seoul along with Yongsan Station and Seoul Station, is a station for Seoul Metro Subway Line 1 as well as KTX and ITX trains. It is connected directly to Times Square and department stores.

What is "medical tourism"?
Foreign patients receiving medical services, such as treatment or surgery, at medical institutions in Yeongdeungpo-gu and people accompanying them touring the area at the same time as receiving medical services.
Purpose of special zone designation
To provide “specialized medical services” using the latest medical technologies and expertise of hospitals in Yeongdeungpo-gu that specialize in “cerebral diseases, burn, joint-related diseases and opthalmologic diseases,” and contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs through a link with tourism resources as well as shopping and accommodation facilities in the area.

Project promotion
- Establishment of medical tourism infrastructure: establish the Medical Tourism Support Center, open the medical tourism promotional website, train medical tourism coordinators, etc.
- Support to stimulate medical tourism: organize medical tourism project presentation sessions, and promote online/offline PR and marketing projects in Korea and abroad, etc.
- Expansion of hospitals providing medical tourism services: improve hospital facilities and services, and increase convenience facilities for foreign patients, etc.
